FallDance 2011 on September 23rd!

It’s that time again! We’re continuing the tradition of seasonal ritual dance experiences with a celebration of the onset of Autumn.

Joining us will be a trio of Dragons–Jude and Paul Ponton of Whispering Dragon, and Roman Delgado of ReikiDragon!  Jude and Paul will be creating a harmonic soundscape of eight gongs attuned to planetary frequencies, specially chosen for this seasonal transition, and Roman will be leading a Reiki drumming journey to guide participants in gathering personal strength and support as we move toward the Winter months.

We’ll follow these remarkable experiences with an opportunity to reflect, dance, create art, write, snack or meditate.

The event will be held on Friday, September 23, from 7:30-9pm at the Civetta Dance Space in Seattle: 124 N. 103rd Street, Seattle, WA 98133 [map].

The cost for this special session will be $15 per participant, and space is limited. Please contact us by e-mail or phone to learn more about the event and to save your place!

Stalking the Wild Psoas with Liz Koch and Jami Sieber

From November 18-20, 2011, Liz Koch will be teaching a 3-day workshop called “Stalking the Wild Psoas” in Seattle. Fantastic cellist Jami Sieber will also be participating, collaborating with Liz to create a dynamic movement and music experience.

This workshop, part of Liz Koch’s Core Awareness practice, is designed to work with, and awaken, the illiopsoas muscle group, which resides at the core of your body, from your spine, weaving through your hips to your legs–in other words, this muscle group is essential for mobility and for communication between your nervous system, core and legs!

Much more information can be found at Liz Koch’s website. This workshop also offers 18 hours of CE credits for bodyworkers.

We’ll be there, and invite you to participate with us!

Improvisational Dance Workshops w/ Robin Bryant this Weekend

There are still some open spots remaining for Robin Bryant’s improvisation workshops on July 9th & 10th at the Century Ballroom here in Seattle!

There are two classes, each with a different emphasis (Jena & I will be attending both). I’ve included Robin’s own descriptions of each session here:

July 9th, 9am-12:45pm: Dance as a Healing Art

Saturday’s workshop liberates spirit to create through the body. Focus is on inner dance, allowing restrictions to transform… enlivening one’s own unique way of moving.

July 10th, 9am-12:45pm: Dance as a Communication Art

Sunday’s workshop acts to increase the power of our outer dance. Emphasis is on clarity, ownership of movement, and connection with Life!

Additionally, here’s Robin’s description of the focus of her work:

My workshops are interactive, and complementary to all dance/movement forms, and created for the expansion of the human spirit in everyone.  They are adventurous, freeing, and deeply joyful, I am seeking all those with experience in any of the free forms of movement . . .  those who have studied any dance form . . .those who love Life! . . .  and equally for all those who have had no experience whatsoever.  Everyone is welcome!

Each class is from 9am-12:45pm: please arrive on time, as Robin will begin each session promptly at 9:15am.

Maximum enrollment in each class is limited to 20 people, so please register in advance by calling Robin at 541-488-9504, or by e-mailing robin.c.bryant@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing you there!
