Beginning June 3rd, Jena will be teaching two new Nia classes on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, from 4-5:30pm at the Dance Space.
The classes will begin with 30 minutes of Nia 5 Stages followed by an 60 minute Classic Nia class.

Jena and Carlyn will be dancing in the University of Washington’s MFA Concert on May 15-19, at the Meany Studio Theater.
This is when dance program MFA students present their highly original choreography, MFA design students help to create the costumes, and dancers… dance!
The shows are:
- May 15-18, 7:30pm
- May 19, 2:00pm
If you’d like to attend and show your support for the UW Dance Program or for Jena and Carlyn, call 206-543-4880 or go to the Meany Hall Website for tickets.
Pre-sale tickets are $16 for regular-price admission, $14 for UW employees and UWAA members, and $10 for UW students and for seniors. No matter who you are, prices go up $2 at the door, so order by phone or online and save yourself half a latte! :P

Hello Dancers and Movers!
Due to changes in our schedule, we’ve had to change our class times:
- Eron’s Martial Movement classes are held only on Sundays from 6:30-8pm (until April 20)
Jena’s new Nia schedule is:
- Friday nights 6-7:30pm
- Sunday mornings 9-10:30pm
These classes begin with 30 minutes (optional) of Nia 5 Stages, followed by a classic Nia class for the remaining hour.
Thanks for bearing with us through the shuffle, but when the dust clears, we’ll have a great new set of classes available. :)

Breema is a body-centered practice of presence that you can practice on your self or with a recipient. The movements of Breema, along with its Nine Principles of Harmony, provide a taste of presence that increases your awareness of self and your relationship with the living universe.
Get a taste of Breema at a special workshop held here in Seattle on March 23rd and 24th by certified Breema instructors Birthe Kaarsholm & Laura Rawson. It will be held at Studio M’illumino, 6921 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115. Saturday’s session runs from 9:30am-5pm, and Sunday’s session runs from 9:30am-1:30pm. Arrive in loose, comfortable clothing, and bring clean socks!
The cost of the full workshop is $200, and Saturday only for $125. Note: If you are a massage practitioner, you can get 10 CE credits for taking the full course.
For those interested but who may not want to take the full workshop, a special session will be held on Friday night, March 22nd, from 7:30pm-9pm. There is no charge for this session.
For more information about the workshop and to register for the workshop, visit the Breema website! You can also download a PDF postcard here (Roxanne Caswell is listed instead of Laura Rawson–but all the other information on the card is accurate).
Here is a PDF flyer that provides more detail about the Dancing in the New World two-day event on December 21st and 22nd at the Dance Space.
Have a look, post it on your refrigerator (or on your neighbor’s refrigerator if you want them to dance with us, too!), or pass the link to interested friends.
Hope to see you there!
…a mid-month update!
In addition to our normal class schedule, we’re hosting two more events this month:
New Moon Nia this Saturday, December 15th, from 6-7pm. This is part of a continuing series of combined 5 Stages and Nia celebrations of the new moon!
Dancing In The New World, a two-day event with sessions on Friday, December 21st from 7:30-9pm, and Saturday, December 22nd from 1:30-3pm. This event includes breathwork, 5 Stages, Freedance, and improvisation, with guest collaborator Amanda Coleman. Feel free to attend one or both sessions!
Both events are being held at the Dance Space, and each session is $13 / drop in, or you can use your Moving Into Presence class cards for participation. For Dancing In The New World, if you are attending both sessions, the cost is only $20.
